MTV are rallying the troops after the mid season finale of Teen Wolf was leaked on iTunes justdays before the episode is set to air.
The episode was available for purchase on iTunes overnight from Friday to Saturday, but was removed for sale after MTV staff, including Showrunner Jeff Davis saw it, and downloaded it themselves.
Cast members and Davis, took to twitter and Tumblr to beg fans not to watch the leaked episode, and not to share spoilers if they did.
Stars of the show, Tyler Posey and Dylan O’Brien, who play show lead Scott McCall and and his sidekick Stiles Stilinski, recorded a short ‘Vine’ message suggesting real fans wouldn’t ruin the show by not watching on Monday.
Davis posted a heartfelt plea on the show’s official Tumblr, asking fans not to skip the episode when it airs, as it would damage ratings and put future seasons in jeopardy.
“I love this cast and crew like family and would love to be able to come back to them on Tuesday morning and say, ‘Your hard work has paid off guys. We did our best ratings yet’,” Davis wrote.
Supporting star Ian Bohen was less diplomatic in his condemnation of the fans who downloaded the episode or shared spoilers online saying they had “destroyed what we work tirelessly to make for everyone who doesnt (sic) suck”.
Many fans took to twitter to defend their decision to watch the leaked episode on the grounds that it was legally available for purchase.
The mid season finale of Teen Wolf Season 3 airs tomorrow on MTV at 10pm EST and will be followed by a sneak peek at season 3B which airs on January 6, 2014.
