A short film of a woman taking off her make-up.

Review:

Wow.

I think that’s one of the only words that can truly sum up Self Portrait. It’s a short film, running under three minutes, but there is an important message conveyed with it. Speaking to how we truly interact as a society, it asks the question: are you willing to take off the mask?

Given that what spoke to me about the film may not be what Vuckovic intended, it’s still important as we’re all shaped by our own experiences and perceptions. And sometimes that’s the beauty of what film can awaken in each and every one of us.

The story line is very simply done as to be deceptive. You wonder what’s coming when the mirror image of the subject starts to remove her make-up. In the end, you’re left stunned, thoughtful and even a little mystified.

Powerful. Evocative. Incredible. I highly recommend. You can watch the entirely of the film on YouTube.
