Knotts Scary Farm 2018 Maze Review

Uncategorized Comments Off on Knotts Scary Farm 2018 Maze Review

Charlie Brown his home safe in bed. Snoopy is off with the Red Baron. Linus is wrapped up tight in his security blanket. The wholesome family fun of Knott’s Berry Farm is no more. The fog has rolled out, the creatures have awakened and Knotts Scary Farm is here. Let’s take a trip through the monster filled mazes for 2018.

Pumpkin Eater
Pumpkin Eater is one of the most visually striking mazes in the entire park. The characters are so well done it’s a shame that they are hidden in the gloom.

You find yourself trapped inside of a giant pumpkin. Pushing through the slimy seeds and dripping goo hanging from the ceiling of the pumpkin tunnel, the dampness and the smell surrounding you is nothing short of amazing.

The sounds of the cawing crows are everywhere. The sounds of the maggots devouring the decaying pumpkin you’re in. The screams of the victims and the screams of the scarecrows mingle into one incredibly macabre autumn maze. Beware Peter Peter the Pumpkin-Eater.

Trick or Treat: Lights Out
“I dare you.”
“No way. I dare you.”
Are you brave enough to knock on the door of the old house? That creepy one up on the hill. The one that the Green Witch lives in. What? Are you chicken? One of Knott’s Scary Farm’s oldest residents returns in Trick or Treat: Lights Out.

Clutch your faulty flashlight tight.  The light will lead you through the darkness. But, what do you do when the flashlight goes out? The Green Witch is waiting in the shadows. Waiting in Trick or Treat: Lights Out.

The Depths
The Depths replaces Voodoo this year. And like Voodoo, the Depths spares no expense on environment. The effect of being waist-deep in water while being completely dry is amazing.

You walk around a corner thinking that you seen the biggest and best and then there is another massive creature before you. The animatronics in this maze are far beyond anything I’ve seen before.

Creaking ships are sinking and the barnacle covered creatures are rising and you only hope you can hold your breath long enough to escape The Depths.

Dark Entities
The old saying goes “In space no one can hear you scream”. This maze proves that to be right. From the very beginning you can feel there is something wrong on this ship. The further you go the more true that statement rings.

Darkness is punctuated by alarm lights. Silence is broken by otherworldly screams. You want to run but, this lunar labyrinth is endless.

Everywhere you turn are strange alien mutations. Everywhere you turn is the dark emptiness of space. Won’t someone call Ground Control ? Won’t someone help ?

Paranormal Inc
Last year this maze was missing something. It had some fantastic elements but didn’t deliver what I had hoped. This year that’s different. From beginning to end this is one very strange trip into the Paranormal Realm.

You find yourself visited by all types from the other side. The ghosts of the doctors and the nurses will check you in. The demented patients of the asylum will keep you in. You find yourself falling into what appears to be the bowels of hell.

And just when you think things can’t get any freaking weirder you find yourself back in time to 1864 and everything perfectly fine. Well, maybe not perfectly fine.

Red Barn
The Red Barn is not for the faint of heart. If you are even the slightest bit squeamish, stay away. That doesn’t mean they wont find you but you might have a chance.

Everywhere dismembered corpses of animals and people lay strewn all about the sawdust covered floor. Chainsaws, hammers, pickaxes and other implements of torture and murder hang from the walls.

The disfigured backwoods hillbillies surround you. You will either become part of the family or you will become dinner. The choice isn’t yours.

Infected: Special Ops
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live through an episode of The Walking Dead? Infected: Special Ops is just that. You are handed a pulse rifle and directions to make your way through the infected city. How do you kill zombies? Headshots!

Mutations lurk in the sewers ahead.  The zombies are behind you. Can you make it through to the end of the city to find the Cure? You’ll only know if you strap on your rifle and push your way through the undead in Infected: Special Ops.

Shadowlands
Take your time through the forbidden temples. This maze has so many mysterious secrets and so many hidden horrors. What you think is around the corner is already behind you. What you think is in front of you is actually above you.

The scares come fast and it scares come from everywhere. The walls are moving. The floor is disappearing. The whole structure is closing in around you. Don’t run for your lives. The undead Samurai know your fear. Walk slowly to escape The Shadowlands.

Dark Ride
One of the new mazes from last year returns. The gruesome ghouls in grease paint have taken up residence in The Dark ride. Never tell a clown that you’re afraid of them. Those words are tastier than cotton candy.

Follow the twisting tracks through the broken carnival ride. Are the ghosts and skeletons just props? Did that jester just jump? He did and he’s not alone.

The cacophony of the creepy calliope permeates your eardrums. Run for your life as much as you want. The psychotic pranksters will give chase. Try and hide beneath the giant gears and broken electrical equipment. The murderous merrymakers will find you. They are everywhere. Your greatest fears have come to life. You are trapped. You are one of us.

Knotts Scary Farm is more than just mazes, though. There is much more to see and hear and there’s much more to see and fear. I hope to make another trip back to see what else I can find in the fog.
