Fear the Walking Dead returns for season 5 on June 2 and this time around, the stakes are higher than ever as Morgan and the survivors seek out people who need help. The problem is that not everyone out there wants help, and they’re going to do whatever it takes to keep people from getting close to them.
If nothing else, based on the trailer season 5 will offer things we’ve never seen before in The Walking Dead universe. There’s a plane. There are nuclear walkers. There’s a cat. It’s unclear how these things will factor into the show but it’s intriguing to think of what they mean.
Fear the Walking Dead saw a radical transformation between season 3 and 4 with the addition of new showrunners Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg. The show has a decidedly more adventurous feel to it now that the group is moving around rather than settling down, and this decision to keep moving is how the group reconnects with Daniel Salazar, who hasn’t been seen since the end of season 3, as well as The Walking Dead’s Austin Amelio, whose character Dwight hasn’t been seen since the end of season 8.
