Dark Seductress Jill Tracy featured as Dexter’s “Final Requiem”

Entertainment News Comments Off on Dark Seductress Jill Tracy featured as Dexter’s “Final Requiem”

“You’ve been seeing the sultry and bloody Showtime campaign “The Final Symphony” promoting the wildly anticipated final season of smash hit Dexter, but who is the sultry woman behind the music?

Shhhh….It’s none other than San Francisco’s own mysterious chanteuse Jill Tracy being immortalized as the voice of Dexter’s Final Requiem.

Hailed “A femme fatale for the thinking man” by San Francisco Chronicle, and “cult darling of the Underworld” by LA Weekly, Showtime Networks sought out Jill Tracy after hearing her provocative jazz noir track “Evil Night Together” and proposed that the tune become the banner song for the Dexter Season 8trailer.

The teaser, which first aired a mere few weeks ago, already has half a million views on YouTube.

Watch the trailer below:

From the official Showtime Press release:

“A final bloody symphony… set against Jill Tracy’s moody ‘Evil Night Together,’ the trailer recaps the darkest moments of the series’ past seven seasons, culminating with the shocking murder of LaGuerta (Lauren Vélez) – a murder that could very well be Dexter’s undoing, even though his sister was the one who pulled the trigger,” describes the official Showtime press release.

The ad, which airs through early July, is aptly titled “The Final Symphony,” and features a montage from the series’ past seven seasons to a soundtrack of Tracy’s chilling music.

“It’s like I’m conducting a final symphony,” Dexter (Michael C. Hall) says, “Requiem for Demonic Dexter.”

Multiple award winner, including Best of the Bay and two-time California Music Award nominee—Jill Tracy is no stranger to death and decadence. Known for seeking inspiration in peculiar locales, Tracy has conjured music on the seldom-played antique Steinways of the historical (and supposedly haunted) Victoria B.C. landmark Craigdarroch Castle, an abandoned 1800s San Francisco medical asylum, and the eccentric Los Angeles mansion of a 19th century murderer.

Jill Tracy is the first musician to ever be awarded a grant from Philadelphia’s famed Mütter Museum, to create a series of work based on its spellbinding collection. She spent nights alone amidst the Mütter’s grotesque cabinet of curiosities, which includes the death cast and conjoined liver of original Siamese twins Chang and Eng, the skeleton of the Ossified Man, Einstein’s brain, The Cardiff Giant, and the Mermaid Baby.  The current project will include not only a music album based on the Mütter collection, but also an art book and memoir of her chilling experiences inside the museum after dark.

Tracy has performed at Anne Rice’s Vampire Ball in New Orleans, and will once again perform at this year’s festivities, as well as emcee, on Friday, October 25, 2013.  Also coming up, Tracy will be featured at the Los Angeles Death Salon, a multi-disciplinary exploration of mortality, on Thursday, October 17, 2013.  She has collaborated with the likes of Lemony Snicket,  Siouxsie & the Banshees’ Steve Severin and David J, of iconic bands Bauhaus and Love & Rockets.
