Get ready to be seduced by an intoxicating succubus. Although Lost Girl has been renewed for a third season on the Showcase Television network in Canada, the SyFy channel is now debuting it for us here in the states.

Who’s That Girl?

The series opens up in a bar, and we see Bo, serving up drinks to a highly flirtatious man. She declines this man’s offer to have a drink, which we see earlier him slipping a drug into. Unfettered, he finds another taker, a young lady, who then gulps it down without hesitation. She takes off, having no interest in his advances. He follows her to the elevator and begins to take advantage of the woozy woman. When the elevator door opens, we see Bo, and she pins the man against the wall and begins to kiss him. The young lady, Kenzi, takes out her cell phone and begins to record this strange attack. Bo sucks the life force out of him, leaving him dead with a huge smile on his face. Bo takes Kenzi with her to her hideout, where it would seem Bo lives on the run. When Kenzi wakes up she questions Bo about what she witnessed and Bo reveals to her that she does not know why she has a strange seductive control over people or why she drains her lovers of their life. She is unable to control this urge.

Two police detectives, Dyson and Hale, catch up to Bo. Although they are legitimate police detectives, they seem to have more knowledge into solving this type of case. They capture Bo and throw her into a van after Hale unleashes a deafening inhuman whistle from his mouth and takes her to “The Ash”. Kenzi snaps a picture of the van’s plate.

Dyson and Hale take her to the Ash, who grills Bo about who she is and what clan she belongs to. Bo’s reply: “I don’t have a clan, okay? Or bagpipes, or haggis. I’m not frickin Irish!” Soon, the Morrigan arrives. She seems to be at odds with Dyson, Hale and the Ash. They are obvious enemies, but discuss how to handle Bo’s sloppy kill from exposing her…and eventually exposing them. She does not believe that Bo does not know what she is. The Ash demands that Bo be examined by their doctor on the premises.

Let Me Take A Look-See

Bo is examined every square inch by the doctor/scientist/human, Lauren. She finds nothing…but a strong attraction to Bo. She then explains to Bo that these people are all Fae, “An evolutionary branch that predates on humans.” She believes that Bo’s genus is Fae and that her species is succubus. Lauren tells Bo that she can teach her how to control her urges and that she must belong to either the Light Fae clan, or the Dark Fae clan.

Come to the Dark Side. We Have Dental.

Bo reluctantly meets with the Morrigan and inquires why she must choose a side. Morrigan quips, “We take care of our own. We’ll place you in a human occupation that is to our advantage. Help with the disposal of your kills. Et cetera, et cetera….Oh! And dental!” The Ash, representing the Light Fae, and the Morrigan, representing the Dark Fae agree on putting Bo to a test.

Beyond Thunderdome

Dyson escorts an unprepared Bo to “The Glass Factory” which he describes as neutral territory for the Faes. It is at this time that Bo’s friend Kenzi traces the license plate to this very location, and sees Bo being pushed into this factory. Her street smarts see her inside the building. Dyson informs Bo that she will battle two Underfaes, who are too freaky looking to pass off as humans. He then lets her kiss him to gain strength. After Dyson successfully pulls away from the intense kiss, Bo exclaims, “Did you feel that? Wow! That was like the 4th of July in my mouth!”

Bo chooses her weapons and does battle in this makeshift coliseum with a huge, serpent tongued barbarian. After she slays him, she is approached from behind and is in the mental clutches of the “Pain Eater”. This Underfae works his mind control abilities, by tapping into Bo’s innermost insecurities of not belonging. Luckily, the crafty Kenzi shouts out for Bo, and Bo is awakened from her hypnotic state and defeats the second Underfae. With Light and Dark awaiting what side she will now choose, her choice is, “Humans!” Dyson drives Kenzi and Bo back to town and warns Bo that she will be watched by the elders, and that eventually she will have to choose a clan. The Morrigan and the wise Trick, decide that they will solve the mystery of who Bo is and where she comes from before they seek her out to have her killed. The episode ends with Bo and Kenzi forming their own partnership and sealing their friendship.

Quotable Quotes

Kenzi to Bo: “God, that is no life for a sex superhero!”
Kenzi to Bo: “You can frickin control people by touch, and not in a creepy hand job way.”
