666 Park Avenue Recap: “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?”
Original Air Date (ABC): Sunday November 25, 2012
Season 1 Episode 8

Let me start off by saying how disappointed I am that ABC has cancelled 666 Park Avenue.  They’ve decided to only shoot 13 episodes.  I am really enjoying this series and I hope another network picks it up.  I really don’t think they give things a chance nowadays.  Ok, I’ll get off my soap box.  Let’s discuss this awesome episode.

We start off seeing a haggard looking Henry passing out missing flyers of Jane.  Remember last episode she disappeared under the mosaic, down the spiral stair case.  Henry looks terrible.  Even a bit guilty as he remembers Jane telling him that she was scared at the Drake and didn’t want  to stay.  You should feel bad Henry.  You didn’t listen to Jane.  You brushed off her fears as if they meant nothing.  I know it’s hard to believe someone when you don’t understand but still.  You’ve known Jane for how long?  You should’ve given her the benefit of the doubt.  Detective Cooper is hard on the case which is good because he has an open mind.  Gavin has called in a top notch investigator to help also.  We see Jane on a city street.  It’s eerily void of people.  Her grandmother walks by and tells Jane she shouldn’t have come.  All of a sudden Jane is thrust back into our world.  People all around.  Jane is lost and disoriented.  She ends up at the hospital.  She had been found wandering around near Central Park.

Kandinsky is beating the you know what out of Shaw.  Gavin wants that red box back.  He gets personal with Shaw, talking about his father.  Shaw’s father had a fire inside that allowed him to abandon his wife and son to search for something to put out that fire.  Shaw stabs back at Gavin with the news that Sasha’s death wasn’t an accident.  Sasha killed herself because she found out her father is a monster.  Gavin is visibly shaken by this news.  It’s made even worse by Shaw telling him that Olivia knows the truth.  Gavin leaves Shaw, stunned and hurt.

Jane is in the hospital and they won’t let her leave for at least 48 hours.  She doesn’t remember anything and the doctor seems to think that the only way for her to heal is to remember.  Jane isn’t happy and Henry is upset also.  Jane seems ok until a nurse tries to take her blood pressure.  When she puts the cuff on, Jane has flashbacks of being tied down.  She starts freaking out and the nurse calls security and they have to sedate Jane.  When Jane is semi-out of it she hears the nurses talking about another patient that came in the same way as Jane.  Julian Waters was also found wandering and confused.  Nona comes to see Jane but Detective Cooper won’t let her.  Nona gives the detective an envelope for Jane.  Cooper goes to see Jane and she confides in him what she does remember.  Jane also mentions Julian Waters name and asks Cooper to talk to him and get his story.  Nona had given Jane her grandmothers necklace back and the picture of Jane at the Drake when she was a girl.  Henry walks in to visit and catches Jane and Cooper hugging.  Jane is so grateful that someone is listening to her.  That’s all the hug is but Henry is bothered by it.

Louise is back and anxious to see Brian.  Alexis her new bestie  is by her side.  Louise tells Brian there wasn’t any photo shoot.  She was back in rehab for prescription pain meds.  Brian is relieved and wishes she had told him.  Lou is excited to start things fresh with Brian.  No secrets.  Poor Brian.  Alexis comes to their apartment another time and is crying to Lou.  Apparently Alexis is involved with a married man.  His wife is a bitch and doesn’t understand him.  Alexis tells Lou and Brian he needs me and he doesn’t even know it.  Ok psycho.  After this fiasco Brian goes down to Alexis’ apartment and tells her this all has to stop.  He never wants to see her again.  He wants her to quit her job with Lou and move away.  Alexis points out that Brian started writing more after they slept together the first time.  Huh.  Whatever, Brian says, just stay away from us.  Brian goes back upstairs and makes love to Lou.  After that love fest he sits down to write. He seems to have something to say and starts typing away.  The cursor doesn’t move.  No new type appears.  Hmmm.  Computer must be freezing.  Gets a pad of paper and a pen.  Pen is dry.  Get’s another pen.  That’s dry too.  Pencils break.  Are you getting the idea?  Brian can’t write.  This really pisses him off and he races back down to Alexis asking what did you do to me?  She tells him, nothing you didn’t want.  Brian can’t help it and he has sex with Alexis again.  All for the love of writing.

Jane remembers going down the spiral staircase.  She’s getting bits and flashes of some not so pleasant happenings.  She sneaks out of her room and gets into D ward to find Julian Waters.  She asks him if he went down the stairs too.  No, not him.  He came up the stairs.  Woah.  What the hell does that mean?  Is he human, demon?  Jane is shocked but that doesn’t scare her away.  She needs to know more.

Gavin confronts Olivia about Sasha’s suicide.  He is mad and distraught.  Olivia tells Gavin that Shaw is only doing this to pull them apart.  She tells him Shaw knew how much this would hurt.  Olivia says turn it around on him.  Hit him where it really hurts.  Gavin knows just what to do.  It appears Shaw’s father has appeared before him.  He tells Shaw that he’s sorry he deserted him and they both have to get out of the Drake.  He tells Shaw to give Gavin what he wants.  Give him the red box.  Shaw tells his father that he left it with a priest at the church where his mother is buried.  St. Thomas Church.  After Shaw gives up this information his fathers face changes into Gavin.  Gavin knows right where that church is.  When Gavin gets to the church and walks in they play a cool cover of the Stones, “Sympathy for the Devil.”  It’s pretty awesome.  Gavin goes into the confessional and gets the priest to give up the box.  The next we see of Gavin is he locking the red box back up in the safe.

Alexis comes to see Gavin.  She said she can’t do this to Brian anymore.  She knows Gavin helped her out, but this is driving Brian crazy. Alexis says she’s not cut out to destroy people.  I actually like this Alexis.  However, Gavin has done something for her and she needs to repay her debt.  For some reason, Gavin wants her and Brian together.

Jane goes to see Waters one last time.  This is the last time because he has hung himself.  He has written odd shapes on the walls of his “room” in his blood.  Detective Cooper sneaks Jane out of the hospital and she is on her way home. Back in their apartment Jane is looking in the nightstand drawer and she finds the engagement ring Henry has bought.  She is thrilled.  Henry comes in and is so glad she is home.  He tells her how much he loves her and the happy couple kiss and embrace.  After Jane and Henry reconcile, Jane goes to visit Nona.  Nona is thrilled Jane is home and tells her someone might be able to help Jane remember.  If she can handle it.  Nona takes Jane to another apartment.  The same markings that Waters wrote on his walls are carved in the door jamb outside this door.  The woman inside is Maris and she knows things about the Drake.  Nona can’t go with her, because Maris doesn’t really like company.  Jane decides she needs to know what’s going on and knocks on the door.

Olivia goes down to see Shaw.  She is pissed.  She is the only one who knew that Sasha’s death was a suicide.  She wants to know how Shaw found out.  Shaw tells Olivia that Sasha is still alive and she told him.  He says if Olivia sets him free, he’ll take her to Sasha.  Shaw has hit a nerve of course.  Olivia gets Tony with her and they take Shaw out of the Drake.  Olivia tells Shaw he has just moments to tell her where Sasha is or she’ll have Tony kill him.  Gavin and Kandinsky find Shaw missing.  Doesn’t Olivia understand that this is playing right into Shaw’s hands?  They are separated and being pushed farther and farther apart.
